SINGAPORE: The Singapore Red Cross (SRC) has launched two month-long public appeals for survivors of Typhoon Ketsana in Indochina and the Padang earthquake in Indonesia.
The "Typhoon Ketsana Flood" appeal will collect donations for survivors of the typhoon in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. The Singapore government has contributed US$50,000 to kick-start the appeal.
Besides sending 100 stretchers and flexible splints, SRC has also donated S$50,000 and medical supplies to the Indonesian Red Cross. The donations collected will be used to purchase medical supplies locally.
SRC said donations can be made in cash or in cheques. Members of the public can also donate via DBS Internet banking or ATMs.
