SINGAPORE : A second-half strike by Kim Jae Hong gave Geylang United the advantage in their RHB Singapore Cup semifinals tie with Albirex Niigata (Singapore) as they won the first leg 1-0 at Jurong East Stadium on Monday evening.
The Korean midfielder struck just after the hour mark, catching Albirex goalkeeper Yoshito Matsushita off his line with a curling shot from just outside the penalty area.
Albirex had started the match looking the more impressive of the two sides, but their incessant pressure in the first half failed to yield any end product.
The Japanese side finished the match with ten men, after forward Tetsuya Kishida collected his second booking of the evening three minutes from time for unnecessarily handling the ball. - sleague
