I think its a pretty good idea as seeing some of the American comics books such as Batman, Superman, Spiderman and Ironman etc. have been adpated into live action films and have become very successful giving the filming industry another truckload of cashflow.

However, some adaptations aint's that good like say the Latest sequel in M. Bay's Transformers

Worse is the latest adaptation of Dragonball.

I think it's best if the movie adaptation can keep the aspects of the book in the movie but however so far each movie adaptation has either deviated from the original work or spoilt the how thing with plain extra CG effects.
