It sounds like a science fiction take on Pocahontas but with some twists and turns in the plot.

James Cameron waited 14 years to make Avatar however becos the technology back then wasn't advanced enough to make this movie.
So he waited for all these years for technology to advance enough to make this film... And his patience seemingly paid off.

OOT:
Well George Lucas waited a long long time before he made Star Wars Episode 1, 2 and 3..
Basically to make such superb effects takes money and time, Back in the early days, CG was non existent and perhaps too primitive to be called "CG". But the explosion of technology today allowed film makers to make cg effects more real and at a cheaper price and faster than before.
So I think James Cameron did the right thing waiting for the technology to develop...

Yes and fall in love with the native princess. But some of his cohorts who believe that freedom is the right of all sentient beings, join his fight too.

I thought so - the twist is acutally very expected from the beginning im telling you. Im guessing the human invasion fails and the natives get their land back

James Cameron has made some of the biggest movie blockbusters in history. I think story wise it might be different from expected...
Hopefully he doesn't disappoint us. But this movie is very hot topic now.

I dont know why but this kind of reminds me of Stargate Alantis were they travel to another world to find info of people but not destroy the natives. So similar yet so different...
