Yeah they look like their old incarnations but modernized a bit. Now I see why Tales said that Michael Bay's movieformers are going to be in trouble. Becos in the making of the movie, they mentioned that they were going to deviate from the Transformers looks by exaggerating the "alien" aspect of the Transformers. This was a bad idea from the start I would say. They do not look like the original cartoon which start the whole franchise. The excuse that M. Bay gave was that the old designs would not light realistically. That was a bad excuse I would say. In this cinematic, the robots managed to retain the iconic look and at the same time look realistic enough to be lighted for the audience! How did this studio managed to do what Dreamworks failed to do?

| From http://tomopop.com http://tomopop.com/post.phtml?pk=10816& The upcoming origin story game, Transformers: War for Cybertron, has fans excited with the return to the more familiar style that all have grown up with. We have seen leaked images for a figure line starting with Optimus Prime in his Cybertronian truck mode as well as the Transformers Collector's Club revealing the toy design for Bumblebee. UGO was able to receive new photos that give us our first look at the official look of the toys for both the Autobot leader and Decepticon leader. I was skeptical at first when seeing the artwork for this game and the leaked image of Prime but I think my fears have now been set at ease. The feel of Optimus Prime is there when he is in his robot mode but also captures that "alien" look. I've been pleased seeing Megatron being transitioned from a hand gun to a tank. However, his War for Cybertron version looks like a generic space pod that doesn't make him stand out. But since I would keep him in robot mode, that wouldn't matter too much. I do find it interesting that for Megatron's robot mode, his design follows more of Michael Bay's version rather than anything resembling his Generation 1 counterpart. Release details are unknown but we can assume they will be available around the same time as the game. Thanks Ikiryou for the heads up. | |

| But Megatron looks F***ing disgusting... He doesn't even resemble the G1 counterpart. He looks like a organism than a machine. | |

| I think not changing his look but modernizing it would be the best way.
This is becos is this the look that most people associate him with. But the Revenge of the Fallen Megatron looks better than the first movie.
But OOT
About this game, I hope this game can do like what Arkham Asylum did for Batman. It's interesting to see what happened to Megatron that started this war between the two factions.

| Yeah. They changed Megatron untill it just doesn't register in our mind. This cuts the appeal of the art if you get what I mean. | |

Instead of spending hours trying to figure out exactly how to turn my little Optimus Prime toy back into a truck, I'd much rather just push a button to make it happen, which is why I'm excited whenever a developer decides to make a Transformers game. Activision has done just that in their new title Transformers: War for Cybertron.
The game isn't just about turning your giant robot into a car of equal or lesser value, there's actually some solid gameplay to be had, so take a look at the video if you want to hear more about the game, or if you just want to hear hear Rey Gutierrez give Michael Bay a special message of admiration.

| Ha Ha Ha, from the interviewer's question. I guessed that the fandom hate for Michael Bay's Transformers is very clear.
Even Wikipedia has the article about the hate for M. Bay's Transformers
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_for_Cybertron
[quote]Development and marketing ..................
In reaction to the many fans who were "irked by the 'Michael Bay-ified insect-like versions'" (dubbed "Bayformers" by those fans) of the Autobots and Decepticons from the 2007 and 2009 Transformers films, the design team has tried to put a "modern polish" on a look that is intended to evoke the feel of the cartoon that launched the series into mainstream public awareness.

Another pair of battle-loving robots have been introduced for Activision's upcoming action title, Transformers: The War for Cybertron. Today, the Autobots get Warpath, while Barricade represents his Decepticon brethren.
Warpath is tough, violent, and partially deaf because his massive gun goes off directly in his metal ear. Yes, apparently robots can go deaf. He looks very much to be a heavy hitter for the Autobots, and will likely f*ck up your day. Barricade is more about speed, often antagonizing Autobots and leading them into treacherous territory. He's also a competent leader and berates Decepticons who fail to obey Megatron's orders properly.
Seriously, though. Robots. Going deaf.
