Obama attends Fort Hood memorial service
US President Barack Obama has expressed his condolences for the 13 people who died in last week's shooting rampage at a military base in Texas.
Obama and his wife attended a memorial ceremony at Fort Hood for soldiers and their families. About 15,000 people took part in Tuesday's service.
Obama and the First Lady honored the memories of the 13 people who were killed by an army psychiatrist on Thursday.
The psychiatrist, who was going to be sent to Afghanistan, also wounded 30 people.
In his address, Obama said the soldiers were killed not on a foreign battle field but in a great community on American soil and that makes the tragedy even more painful and incomprehensible.
He pledged to make the utmost efforts to clarify the gunman's motive.
