| Little is known about the upcoming Pokémon Heart Gold & Pokémon Soul Silver games. At the moment, all we know is that they are remakes of the original Gold & Silver games, set in the Johto region and coming out for the DS in Autumn/Fall of 2009. | |

| Actuall,y these games are already out in Japan as of late September to Early October. Here's some intersting info.
In the anime at the moment, Satoshi-tachi have encountered two new friends who are from the Jouto region. Hikari wins a battle against one of them, thus winning a Pokemon egg which later hatches into a Hinoarashi (Cyndequil). One is a young man, Kazunari, who is aspiring to become a breeder. He uses Waninoko (Totodile) and also catches a Fukamaru. The other is a young girl, Kotone, who uses a Maril and a Chikorita. I bring the anime part up because the end of the anime for the past few episodes have been talking about the game.
Just like its DS predacessors, Diamond and Pearl, Heart Gold and Soul Silver will have dual gender characters. A boy and a girl. The girl is based off of Kotone. Whichever gender you choose, the opposite will basically become your lond distance friend and possible rival (it's Ruby, Saphire and Emerald all over again).
You still have both regions of gyms to fight (Jouto and Kanto) which already makes for a long game experience but they have also added the battle frontier to the game now which will make it even longer. Just like with the original gold and silver, HG and SS will allow you to choose between Chikorita, Waninoko and Hinoarashi. You also search for the time when you'll face either Lugia or Ho-Oh like before.
It's not known yet when they'll be released in English for American, European and Austrailian players but you can get the games online at any online store that sells overseas products (Ebay is a good place to go for this).
Now here's some shocking info. When Gold and Silver for GameBoy Color/Advanced came out in the United States, they sold a total of 1.4 million copies within the first week. Now here's the kicker. Japan alone, when HG and SS were released, sold 1.4 million copies within the first two days. Just imagine how they'll sale when they hit the U.S. market.

| Real interesting read. I haven't really gotten into one in a while, but wouldn't mind. Anyways, here's hoping it's just as addicting as the rest! | |

| i thought the new one would be in a different region. there are so many new ones coming out! I also hope this one would be more enjoyable then the previous ones. But i still long for a different type of battle system instead of take-turn RPG | |

| Perhaps but the Pokemon fad wasn't as strong as it was 10 years ago. But it still alive and kicking. Pikachu even had become a cultural icon like Mickey mouse. | |

also if they remake this, i hope the remake yellow, blue, red and the other games that were on GBA and the consoles b4~ Actually, the old blue version was the American version of the game. Japan never released a blue version. When Pokemon first came out it was in Red and Green. And they were originally created for the Gameboy and Gameboy Color. The GBA was just backwards compatible. Just like how the DS is backwards compatible with GBA games. The first actual GBA Pokemon game was Crystal. And they did remake them. the old red and blue (green) versions were remade for the GBA as Fire Red and Leaf Green. I don't think they'll ever remake Yellow as it was 100x's better than Red and Blue (green) ever were with Pikachu as the main Pokemon partner. If they do remake it they'll have a whole new revamping process to do on it to make it better that its original predacessor.

| I think the games is the reason why Pokemon hasn't been forgotten yet... But the anime has become a drag. | |

| The anime isn't that bad. It's just that ever since the Jouto season every region has 2-3 sub-seasons for a whole Gym and region adventure. We are currently in the 5th season of the series.
Kantou - 1 season and 1 movie Orange Islands - 1 season and 1 movie Jouto - 1 season set into 2 sub-seasons and 4 movies Houen - 1 season set into 2 sub-seasons and 2 movies Sinouh - 1 season and is now in its 2nd sub-season about to move into it's 3rd sub-season and it has almost 4 movies.
If they would just shorten the seasons somewhat and stop with some of the pointless fillers it would be much more enjoyable. If anything at all they need to finally end the series for heaven's sake.
Make Satoshi-tachi have one last journey, bring back Kasumi, finally give Satoshi a girlfriend, same for Takeshi, present Satoshi's dad for the love of god....we've gone almost 11 years of this stuff and we've never seen his pop's once. Have him return to the Kantou region to re-enter the Kantou league. Have him win, beat the Elite 4 and all of his rivals, make him a Pokemon Master and then close it out with a glimps at the possible future where he and undetermined wife are raising their own kid who also has a dream of becoming a Pokemon Master.
Of course....this seems like it'll be a bit longer. Just how many more ideas do they have for different Pokemon? A lot of the newer ones are just rehashed concepts of current ones. It all needs to end someday. Though for some reason the anime does seem to be hitting in the area of its final legs which means we might actually get a conclusion soon within the next year or so.

| I think this discussion has gone into the subject of Pokemon itself... I believe we need a new topic to discuss the monsters that we know and love. | |

| Well I look forward to the US release of this game.
Too bad only Kanto and Johto. If we have a game where we can visit all continents of the Pokemon world. It would be the best.

Bobby, a game with all regions and battle area's would cost too much to make and the chips that they use to store all of the info on wouldn't be able to keep up. The game would crash real fast. Maybe in a couple of more years then yeah.

| I dont think the game will crash. It could be a Pokemon game that could go through different maps. I think it will be the same difficulty as making a normal Pokemon game but would take a longer time. | |

| More than likely it would crash. The DS chips can only hold so much memory and the Pokemon games for the DS are one of the few games that take the most memory on the DS system since they are backwards compatible with older games, allowing you to transport Pokemon from them (Fire Red, Leaf Green, Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald). | |

| Oh yeah i forgot. You know the DSi right? Maybe in the future you can get bigger memory cards and you would have to download the maps from the web to play. But the DS Card is for the original game but you can get more maps as it go. I think it will be a handy edition so you can get alot of the pokemon. | |

| I haven't got this game yet... But I will see how much has changed since the last gen...
BTW, one cool feature of this game is the fact that your Pokemon can follow you around like Pikachu in Pokemon Yellow.
